I’m honored to introduce myself as the new President of BloomNet and join such a vibrant and passionate community. I’d like to applaud Dinesh Popat for the incredible work and dedication that brought BloomNet to where it is today, and I wish him the best in his retirement. As I step into this role, I’m excited to build upon the strong foundation that has been established and to guide BloomNet into the future with a keen focus on important issues, such as sustainability.

Sustainability has become an important and confirmed trend in the floral industry, driven by increasing awareness of environmental issues and a desire to make a positive impact. Consumers are now more conscious of their ecological footprint, seeking innovative ways to reduce waste, conserve resources, and support eco-friendly practices. This industry trend is part of a larger movement toward a more sustainable and responsible lifestyle.

Consumers are increasingly making purchasing decisions with sustainability in mind. They’re looking for flowers that are not only beautiful but also ethically sourced and environmentally friendly. This demand is encouraging floral designers and retailers to adopt sustainable practices, such as reusing containers for arrangements, sourcing locally grown flowers, and recycling properly. Our industry is adapting to meet these expectations, and it’s inspiring to see the positive changes take place.

At BloomNet, we are committed to leading sustainable practices for our members. Our recent research study delves into the various ways our industry can embrace sustainability. We’re excited to share these findings with you to support your journey toward sustainability. For more information about the research, check out this issue’s Industry Info section.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to Floriology. Together, we will create a brighter and more sustainable future.
